When it comes to choosing a new vehicle, safety sits at the top of nearly every driver’s list. Volkswagen understands this, which is why they created VW IQ.DRIVE—a suite of advanced driver-assistance features designed to make every drive safer, smarter, and more enjoyable. Available across much of the Volkswagen lineup, IQ.DRIVE brings semi-automated technology and peace of mind to your daily commute and long road trips alike.

What is VW IQ.DRIVE?

VW IQ.DRIVE is Volkswagen’s intelligent driver-assistance system that integrates multiple technologies into a seamless safety net around your vehicle. With features like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go, Lane Assist, and Front Assist, IQ.DRIVE actively supports you on the road. These systems work together to help reduce driver fatigue, minimize accident risk, and create a more confident driving experience.

Key Features for Real-World Driving

  • Travel Assist: The centerpiece of IQ.DRIVE, Travel Assist combines Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Assist to provide semi-automated driving. It helps keep your VW centered in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead—even in stop-and-go traffic.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Stop & Go: Adjusts your speed automatically based on traffic conditions and can bring your vehicle to a complete stop before resuming when traffic moves.
  • Lane Assist: Provides gentle steering support if your vehicle begins to drift without signaling.
  • Front Assist (Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring): Helps detect potential collisions and can automatically apply the brakes if needed.
  • Blind Spot Monitor & Active Side Assist: Alerts you to vehicles in your blind spots and helps you make safer lane changes.
  • Rear Traffic Alert: Warns you of approaching vehicles when backing out of parking spaces.
  • Emergency Assist: If the driver becomes unresponsive, the system can bring the vehicle to a safe, controlled stop.
  • Dynamic Road Sign Display: Reads speed limits and other important road signs, displaying them clearly in your cockpit.

Together, these features tackle everyday driving challenges—whether it’s highway cruising, rush-hour traffic, or tricky parking maneuvers.

Seamless Safety Meets Comfort

VW IQ.DRIVE isn’t just about safety—it’s about reducing stress and adding convenience. Long commutes become easier with systems like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, while Travel Assist provides steady support on busy highways. The result? Less fatigue and more time to focus on enjoying the drive.

1. Fluid Leaks Under Your Car

If you notice mysterious puddles beneath your vehicle, don’t ignore them. Leaking fluids can signal trouble with critical systems:

  • Yellow or brown fluid: Could be motor oil, brake fluid, or coolant
  • Coolant: May appear orange, red, green, or blue
  • Dark red fluid: Often transmission fluid

Fluid leaks can lead to overheating, brake failure, or transmission damage if left unchecked.

2. Unusual Vibrations

Volkswagens are engineered for smooth driving, so any shaking or shuddering is a red flag. Possible causes include:

  • Engine misfires
  • Transmission issues during gear shifts
  • Warped brake rotors
  • Worn or unbalanced tires

If your car vibrates while braking or accelerating, it’s time for a professional inspection.

3. Squeaking, Grinding, or Knocking Sounds

Strange noises are often your car’s way of asking for help:

  • Squeaking or grinding when braking: Worn brake pads or rotors
  • Whining or clattering: Gearbox or differential issues
  • Ticking or knocking: Poor engine lubrication

Ignoring these sounds can lead to costly repairs.

Each fluid in your car serves as liquid armor, protecting the engine, transmission, differentials, and other vital parts from wear and tear. When you keep your car’s fluids topped up and fresh, your car will continue to run smoothly and efficiently. Here’s a guide to fluid checks and servicing with the help of your local VW dealership.

Motor Oil

Motor Oil

As with all your car’s fluids, it’s best to check your motor oil once a month. You can do this using the dipstick when the engine’s turned off and the car’s parked on a level surface. If your oil is low, top it up.

If it’s dirty, consider replacing it. You’ll typically need to flush your motor oil twice a year; it’s advisable to do so even if the oil still seems in good shape.

Coolant

With degraded or contaminated coolant, your engine could overheat surprisingly quickly. Coolant should also be checked monthly and doesn’t require a dipstick. Just pop the hood and find the coolant reservoir, which is typically transparent.

Make sure the level is good according to the reservoir markers. And flush the coolant if it’s ever brown, which indicates internal radiator rust. Coolant normally lasts for about two years.

Brake Fluid

The primary purpose of brake fluid is to maintain hydraulic pressure inside the brake lines and transmit the stopping signal to the calipers. Here, you’ll also find a transparent or semi-transparent reservoir to check the fluid’s level and condition. You can expect your brake fluid to last two years or 30,000 miles.

When sufficient cargo space and plenty of room for passengers are a must, the three-row 2025 Volkswagen Atlas delivers. This spacious SUV is fit for the whole family, packed with comfort, infotainment, and loads of safety features to make any trip effortless.

2025 Volkswagen Atlas

SE

The SE is the base trim of the new Atlas, but its features don’t miss. Say hello to power-adjustable folding exterior mirrors, vacation-ready roof rails, front seats with heating and ventilation, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. It’s also automatically equipped with a 12″ touchscreen, a keyless liftgate, a rearview camera, and wireless charging to appeal to the tech lovers of the family.

SE with Technology

The SE with Technology trim level takes things up a notch with larger all-season tires, a 115V AC outlet installed in the second row, and the ability to tow up to 5,000 pounds. Extra technology is also added to this trim level to cater to busy families always on the go, including remote start, park distance control, and a hands-free liftgate. The SE with Technology also distinguishes itself with a fancy, illuminated light bar embedded on the grille and rear fascia of the vehicle.

Peak Edition

Opting for the Peak Edition, your Volkswagen Atlas will trade front-wheel drive for all-wheel drive. It also gains enhanced performance with its 4MOTION AWD with Active Control Driving Mode Selection, which automatically disperses more capacity to the wheels that need it at the time. The sporty Peak Edition additionally offers new decorative features, including a panoramic sunroof, Peak Edition-specific exterior styling, black interior trim, stainless steel-brushed pedals, and adjustable interior ambient lighting.

SEL

Enhance your family’s safety and level of comfort with the SEL trim. While the Peak Edition goes back to the initial trim’s smaller tires, the SEL trim level switches to the larger tires of the SE with Technology for a smoother drive. It also takes on a more luxurious, less sporty appearance with silver rails in exchange for black rails. Other new features include heated leather seats in the first two rows, a Head-Up display system, a dynamic road sign display, and built-in navigation on its 12-inch touchscreen.

SEL Premium R-Line

The SEL Premium R-Line takes on even larger tires along with R-Line-specific exterior styling for a sport-meets-luxury look. The trim also gains a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, a massage feature embedded in the front seats, and Vienna leather seats for a premium appearance. Tech-wise, the R-Line offers a premium audio system paired with a subwoofer, Park Assist, and Overhead View Camera display on its rearview camera system to make backing up easier and safer than ever before.
